Once, something grew here.

It had a name. A season. A place it belonged.

Then the season changed.

What had once felt familiar was gone, and suddenly everyone seemed to want to know what would come next.

The Space Between is an illustrated story and personal journal for ages 12–15, created for that strange in-between place where who you were no longer quite fits—but you don't yet know who you're becoming.

Through the story of a garden bed between seasons, readers are reminded that not every empty space needs to be filled immediately.

You are allowed to change your mind. To outgrow things. To leave something behind before you know what will replace it.

And sometimes the most honest answer to What comes next? is simply:

I don't know yet.

Because empty isn't the same as nothing.

Change can be happening beneath the surface long before we know what it will become.

After the illustrated story ends, the rest of the journal belongs to the reader—lined pages for thoughts, questions, lists, drawings, unfinished ideas, or the things that might be easier to write down first.

There are no right answers here.

You don't have to know yet.
